Julie Oswin’s Website has been copied!

Copying I understand is the highest form of flattery.

After creating a new website in of October last year, www.fineartweddings.co.uk a few days ago a colleague sent me a link advising me that my new FineArt Weddings  website concept I had created six months ago had been copied.     Not satisfied with using the wording and changing his weddings website to  ’FineArt Weddings’ but also taking the trouble to tone all of the photographs the same colour.
http://www.stevewaltonphotography.com

I am extremely flattered that my x partner continues to plagiarise everything I do with my wedding photography business,  copying every minute detail in my marketing,  copying my special offers and then under cutting them, and now one of my websites.

In March 2012, six months after my new website was launched, he even went to the trouble of  purchasing  -  www.fineartweddings.biz

But I can honestly say after two and half years this is getting rather tedious and boring.

Leicestershire Wedding Photographer, Julie Oswin receives rave reviews!

Daffodil's as Wedding flowers

Daffodil Corsage

I confess that I am behind with my blog updates but  I wanted to share last Saturday’s Wedding feedback with you.   Although  Janet & I  have photographed over 25 lovely weddings since August 2011,  we have been thrilled to be able to capture each couple’s special day as they have celebrated with their families and friends, Saturday’s wedding was no exception.

Ellie & James’ spring wedding was held at the St Luke’s Church, Kinoulton, Nottinghamshire  and they held their reception  at the gorgeous Leicestershire Wedding Venue, Prestwold Hall.   James and Elllie booked our wedding photography services on recommendation from Nici Wood at Prestwold Hall.  Ellie & James were very keen to have a photographer that didn’t shout or boss guests about and most importantly not take hours to complete the wedding photographs unlike a previous family wedding,  turning a very special day into a photoshoot, which sadly seems to be getting more common these days as everyone who has a digital camera is a ‘wedding photographer’.

Yesterday I received the following thank you from the bride & groom.

Julie,

Just a quick message from our Mini-Moon location, to say thank you ever so much for taking our photographs on our wonderful day. We had such a fantastic day, and everyone had a really good experience of the photographs. Thank you, we couldn’t have hoped for better.

Best wishes,    Ellie & James x

Today, I put their wedding images live via the online gallery and I have just received this message from the couple.

Julie,
All we can say is wow! The photographs are fabulous! Thank you so much.

“I am so thrilled to win this prestigious award for my photography and to be told that the image created is just beautiful by the Judges is a massive compliment.  One of the most exciting things about winning this award is that whilst I am under pressure to capture the wedding day for my couple’s,  I can also produce award-winning images for them on the day,  whatever the weather.”

Ronnie Corbett & his wife Anne

Ronnie Corbett & his wife Anne

What a night!  What a celebration of friendship and family!   What a privilege for Julie Oswin of Julie Oswin Photography Ltd to be asked to photograph and capture the second party for this family.  There is nothing more flattering as a photographer to be asked again to capture special events in people’s lives, this was no exception.

Marquee Events

The Marquee finished and ready for the Party

Saturday 14th January was the date for this 70th Birthday Celebration which was held in a marquee in South Yorkshire.  The event was organised by Carol Dennis, Celebrity Party Planner who is based in Harrogate, Yorkshire.

A fabulous night was had by all.

Ronnie Corbett returned to work for his first after-dinner gig since he was taken ill over New Year.   Ronnie was also joined on stage  by ‘Encore Entertainment”, Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Signature,   and finishing the evening was the live band and local lad, Toni Christie.

It was just simply a brilliant evening of celebration with close family and friends enjoying the private celebrations.   Ronnie Corbett was joined on stage by his wife of 50 years, Anne.  They made an impromptu double act and they were hilarious.

Simon, Sarah’s partner sang a medley of numbers and Encore Entertainment sang hits from the West End Musicals and Opera.  Signature from Britain’s Got Talent were simply brilliant and the guests joined in with the Michael Jackson moon walk.

A Marilyn Monroe look-a-like sang Happy Birthday to the host and the live band to finish the evening was local Yorkshire man, Toni Christie.

Robin Hood & Maid Marian

Aike & Annika on their pre-wedding shoot!

Aike proposed to Annika last year and the couple, from Amsterdam, made three trips to Nottinghamshire to find a venue, various suppliers and a photographer!

Annika  said: “Since I was a child, I always wanted to visit Sherwood Forest, it never happened, so as I grew up I decided that my first visit would be with the person I was going to marry. So, it’s a perfect match really.”   Aike is a fan of the Errol Flynn incarnation of the outlaw, whereas Annika prefers the 1980s TV version starring Michael Praed.

Aike said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to set up our dream wedding in the Robin Hood county and we have received so much help from Newark Register Office and our suppliers”.

The couple didn’t dress up as Robin Hood  and Maid Marian on their big day, but they did pose in costume at a pre-wedding photoshoot in October in Sherwood Forest at the major oak with Julie Oswin, and spent time discussing their wedding plans and the wedding day over coffee.

The couple’s 36 guests, all very close family & friends travelled from Holland for the wedding on 8th May 2011 and even tried their hand at archery in the grounds of Norwood Park.

The wedding party enjoyed a medieval-style banquet featuring a minstrel dressed in period costume. The wedding cake was topped with a statue of Robin and Marian and was cut with a medieval sword.  Aike & Annika’s marriage was blessed at St Mary’s Church at Edwinstowe, as legend has it, where Robin Hood & Maid Marian were married.

Diane Webster, Superintendent Registrar for Newark & Sherwood District, who performed the ceremony, said: “We were happy to help Aike and Annika when we heard what great fans they were of the Nottinghamshire legend.    ”They were looking for an atmospheric location close to the Sherwood Forest which could accommodate all their wishes and themed touches.”

The register office has also helped the couple find out what they need to do to legalise their marriage in the Netherlands.

Night-time weddings to be allowed!!!

The Government have outlined plans for night-time weddings to take place in the future.  The changes allowing marriages to take place 24 hours a day in England and Wales are part of the Protection Of Freedoms Bill.   They will also apply to civil partnerships.

Currently couples can only wed between 0800 and 1800 under rules dating back to the Marriage Act 1836.   This will not introduce ‘spur of the moment’ marriages like in the Las Vegas style Chapels;  Couples will still have to give at least 15 days notice.

Julie’s comment on this news…   “This is absolutely brilliant news for all couples!   Couples will be able to have romantic candlelit ceremonies, with fireworks just after the ceremony with the Drinks Reception.   There will be so much more opportunity for true professional photographers to capture the atmosphere, use their creative lighting and photographic  skills to photograph a wedding without daylight!    People forget that photography is a skill, an Art form.    Experienced,  fully trained photographers use the available light to paint their images with the light, bringing them to life.     They do not shoot thousands of images at a wedding hoping to get just a few useable shots, that simply is not photography”.

The night-time images below have been captured by Julie Oswin at recent events.

Julie Oswin Photography photographs weddings @ Redhouse Barn, Bromsgrove

New for 2010 was this absolutely gorgeous venue, The Redhouse Barn, set in the beautiful countryside of Worcestershire just off Junction 5 of the M5.   Kim & Jon had chosen  this venue for their wedding before the barn was completed but had total faith that the barn would be finished in time for their wedding, which it was.

Julie Oswin Photography

Redhouse Barn, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire

On the morning of the wedding Janet had been struck down by a stomach bug and so at 8:30am Julie contacted the Master Photographers Association’s emergency photographers list for a second photographer.  Within minutes of Julie telephoning, Paul Hayley FMPA was in his car and driving down from Yorkshire in response to her shout for help.  Paul arrived in time to  leave  for the wedding at 10:00am.    This security of knowing that you have fellow photographers to cover in case of emergency’s is a vital part of choosing a fully qualified Professional Photographer.    One of the important factors when Jon & Kim chose Julie Oswin Photography to photograph their wedding was that she was a member of the MPA and of course loved her style of relaxed photography!

Although the weather was showery the sun did come out after the ceremony and the Drinks Reception was held in the Pinchers Lounge and in the gardens.

One of the biggest problems facing Professional Photographers is that we are not allowed to take photographs during the Ceremony.  The Registrars on Jon & Kim’s Wedding Day were of the opinion that no photographs were allowed to be taken except on the Bride & Father’s entrance and a ‘mock’ signing of the Register at the end.    It always a shame when we are not allowed to photograph the ceremony as the couple miss out on so many wonderful photographs.

Paul managed to capture this moment when Kim and her father greeted Jon for the ceremony.    The speeches were after the meal and the celebrations carried on until late.Julie Oswin Photography

“Our huge thanks to you the best wedding photographer ever! You made an experience of which we are both not usually comfortable (namely having our photos taken) one of the highlights of our day. It was great fun spending time with you and having such a laugh throughout the day.
Everyday on our honeymoon we kept remembering the fun experiences we had with you and have had no end of comments from all our guests how lovely you are.
Personally it was lovely to share the unique moments with you like the hilarious moment my garter fell off in church and my inability to strut my stuff – although your pictures prove my spinning is ok! None of which would have been the same without you there.
A genuine massive thank you for everything you did on the day and for the most fantastic record of our special day, we couldn’t have wished for better photographs they are truly stunning. Can’t thank you enough Yvonne & Phil x”
