Night-time weddings to be allowed!!!

The Government have outlined plans for night-time weddings to take place in the future.  The changes allowing marriages to take place 24 hours a day in England and Wales are part of the Protection Of Freedoms Bill.   They will also apply to civil partnerships.

Currently couples can only wed between 0800 and 1800 under rules dating back to the Marriage Act 1836.   This will not introduce ‘spur of the moment’ marriages like in the Las Vegas style Chapels;  Couples will still have to give at least 15 days notice.

Julie’s comment on this news…   “This is absolutely brilliant news for all couples!   Couples will be able to have romantic candlelit ceremonies, with fireworks just after the ceremony with the Drinks Reception.   There will be so much more opportunity for true professional photographers to capture the atmosphere, use their creative lighting and photographic  skills to photograph a wedding without daylight!    People forget that photography is a skill, an Art form.    Experienced,  fully trained photographers use the available light to paint their images with the light, bringing them to life.     They do not shoot thousands of images at a wedding hoping to get just a few useable shots, that simply is not photography”.

The night-time images below have been captured by Julie Oswin at recent events.

Deanne’s brother Jimmy flew from Australia with his girlfriend Mandy and her parents for the wedding.   Deanne & Stuart’s daughter Millie was one of Deanne’s Flowergirls.   Ella was their God Daughter.  Bridesmaids were Jo, Emily & Lucy.

Stuart had two Best Men, James & his brother Russell.    The couple had a fabulous day at Norwood Park.    Deanne’s attention to detail was clearly on display around the venue but the Sweetie Bar was without doubt the star attraction of the day.

Julie Oswin Photography photographs weddings @ Redhouse Barn, Bromsgrove

New for 2010 was this absolutely gorgeous venue, The Redhouse Barn, set in the beautiful countryside of Worcestershire just off Junction 5 of the M5.   Kim & Jon had chosen  this venue for their wedding before the barn was completed but had total faith that the barn would be finished in time for their wedding, which it was.

On the morning of the wedding Janet had been struck down by a stomach bug and so at 8:30am Julie contacted the Master Photographers Association’s emergency photographers list for a second photographer.  Within minutes of Julie telephoning, Paul Hayley FMPA was in his car and driving down from Yorkshire in response to her shout for help.  Paul arrived in time to  leave  for the wedding at 10:00am.    This security of knowing that you have fellow photographers to cover in case of emergency’s is a vital part of choosing a fully qualified Professional Photographer.    One of the important factors when Jon & Kim chose Julie Oswin Photography to photograph their wedding was that she was a member of the MPA and of course loved her style of relaxed photography!

Jon’s Best Man was Rich and his Ushers were Gavin & Carl (brother-in-law).   Kim’s Bridesmaids were Alison (her sister) and her close friend Mellissa.

Although the weather was showery the sun did come out after the ceremony and the Drinks Reception was held in the Pinchers Lounge and in the gardens.

One of the biggest problems facing Professional Photographers is that we are not allowed to take photographs during the Ceremony.  The Registrars on Jon & Kim’s Wedding Day were of the opinion that no photographs were allowed to be taken except on the Bride & Father’s entrance and a ‘mock’ signing of the Register at the end.    It always a shame when we are not allowed to photograph the ceremony as the couple miss out on so many wonderful photographs.

Paul managed to capture this moment when Kim and her father greeted Jon for the ceremony.    The speeches were after the meal and the celebrations carried on until late.Julie Oswin Photography

We at Julie Oswin Photography wish them both every happiness in their future lives together.

Julie would personally like to thank Paul for responding to her damsel in distress call!   When choosing qualified, professional photographers you can have the reassurance that if unforeseen circumstances do happen on your wedding day,  your covered!
